Advice from Craig

Do I need an architect for an extension?

The short answer

Only if you want one, Craig says. For an extension or a bigger project, Madisons can manage the whole process from start to finish, design and planning included. We work with two or three architects all the time, each suited to a different kind of project: one who specialises in heritage, one in modern homes, and others more focused on interiors and the finish you will live with, down to details like brick slips and LED lighting. Craig’s suggestion is an initial conversation, over Zoom if that suits you, and then Madisons builds a team around your project. That is the design and build route: one team from first sketch to finished home.

Transcript

We’ve been asked by quite a few clients recently, do we need to get an architect? If you want to, yes. If not, give us a shout. We can manage the whole process from start to finish. We work with two or three architects all the time, and we do design and planning in and around that.

So we’ve got different architects with different projects, so we’ve got a heritage specialist architect, we’ve got one that specialises on a modern home, and we’ve got other ones that are just a little bit more interior based, a little bit more on trend with different bits and pieces like brick slips and LED lighting, and more about what the finish looks like, what you’re going to be living in.

So we really do have different people for different finishes. So give us a shout, maybe we’ll sit and just have that initial conversation together over a Zoom, and then we’ll build a team around you for the design and build situation that suits you, your build, your finish, and all the other bits and pieces that might come alongside it.
