Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13/10/2026
This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We have written it in plain English because you should be able to understand it without a lawyer.

If you have any question about this policy or your personal information, contact us using the details above.
2. The information we collect
We only collect the information this website actually asks you for, plus limited technical information. We do not take payments through this website, so we never ask for card or bank details here.
When you request a quote (the quote form): your name, email address, phone number, project location (town), project type, budget band, timescale, and anything you choose to tell us in the message box.
When you send us a message (the contact form): your name, email address, phone number if you choose to give it, whether you are a homeowner, a developer or trade contact, or other, and your message.
When you apply to work with us (the careers form): your name, email address, phone number, trade or role, and a short summary of your experience. The form does not accept file uploads. If you follow up by email with a CV, we hold that CV in our email system and treat it under this policy in the same way as your application.
When you phone or email us directly: the details you give us in the call or message, held in our records of the conversation.
When you browse the site: if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site (pages visited, links clicked, including clicks on our phone number and email address, device and approximate location derived from your IP address). It does not run unless you consent; see our Cookie Policy. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security purposes.
When you watch a film or load the map: most of our films are hosted on this website and play from it, so watching them sends nothing to anyone else. A few films come from YouTube or Vimeo, and the map on our contact page comes from Google Maps. None of these loads until you click it. When you do, your browser connects directly to that company, which receives your IP address, browser details and the page you are on, and may set its own cookies; see section 5 of our Cookie Policy.
3. Why we use your information, and our lawful bases
UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for every use of your information. Ours are:
| What we do | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to your enquiry or quote request, arrange site visits, prepare quotations | You have asked us to | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract; legitimate interests in responding to enquiries |
| Deliver a project if you become a client | To perform our agreement with you | Performance of a contract |
| Consider your application to work with us | You have applied | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract; legitimate interests in recruiting |
| Keep records of enquiries and projects | Good business administration, and dealing with any later question or dispute | Legitimate interests; legal obligation for records we must keep by law |
| Measure how the website is used (Google Analytics) | To improve the site | Your consent |
| Load a YouTube or Vimeo film, or the Google map, when you click to play or view it | To show you the content you have asked for | Legitimate interests |
| Keep the website secure (server logs) | To protect the site and its visitors | Legitimate interests |
Where we rely on legitimate interests we have considered the balance against your rights, and you can object at any time (see section 8). Where we rely on your consent you can withdraw it at any time, most easily through the Cookie settings link in the website footer.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for automated decision making.
4. Who we share your information with
We share your information only with the service providers who help us run the business, and only so far as each one needs it:
- Hostinger, who host this website. Form submissions are stored in the website’s database as a backup record, together with a log of the notification emails the website sends.
- DC Digital (dcdigital.uk), who designed and manage this website for us. When you submit a form, the website emails your submission to us through DC Digital’s email account, which runs on Google Workspace, so DC Digital and Google handle that email on our behalf.
- Microsoft, who host our email inbox (Outlook). Form notification emails are delivered to [email protected], so they pass through and are stored in Microsoft’s email service.
- Google, who provide Google Workspace, the email service that sends our form notification emails (see DC Digital above). Google also receives information if you consent to analytics cookies (Google Analytics), if you choose to load the map on our contact page, and if you choose to play a YouTube film on our site (YouTube is owned by Google; we use its privacy-enhanced mode).
- Vimeo, if you choose to play a film we show from Vimeo (currently the walkthrough film on our Chigwell new build case study). We load it with Vimeo’s Do Not Track setting, so Vimeo does not use it to track your viewing.
We may also share information where the law requires it, or with our professional advisers where genuinely necessary. We never give or sell your details to anyone else for their own marketing.
5. International transfers
We are based in the United Kingdom and aim to keep your information here or in the European Economic Area. Google (including YouTube and Google Workspace), Microsoft and Vimeo may process some data outside the UK, including in the United States. Vimeo is a US company, so if you play a Vimeo film your IP address and the details of your request go to Vimeo in the United States. Where data goes outside the UK it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement.
6. How long we keep your information
- Enquiries and quote requests: up to two years from our last contact with you, so we can pick the conversation back up if your project timescale slips.
- Client project records: six years after your project ends, because building contracts, warranties and guarantees can raise questions long after the work finishes.
- Job applications: six months after the role is filled or your application is closed, unless you ask us to keep your details on file for future openings.
- Analytics data: the Google Analytics cookies on your device last for the periods set out in our Cookie Policy. Google Analytics keeps the detailed records of visits for no longer than 14 months, the longest its standard settings allow; after that only aggregated statistics that do not relate to you remain.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it.
7. How we keep your information safe
Your information is held in the systems described above, each protected by access controls, and this website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Only the people who need your information to deal with your enquiry, project or application have access to it.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Erase your information in certain circumstances.
- Restrict how we use your information in certain circumstances.
- Object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Portability: receive the information you gave us in a reusable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on your consent (for example analytics cookies).
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] or write to us at Thatch Cottage, Burnham Road, Latchingdon, Essex CM3 6EY. We will respond within one month. There is no charge unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first and give us the chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator:
- Website: ico.org.uk
- Phone: 0303 123 1113
- Post: Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF
10. Cookies
For what cookies this site uses and how consent works, see our Cookie Policy.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will publish the new version on this page with a new date at the top.
