Advice from Craig
What happens at the final handover?
The short answer
At the final handover you receive the paperwork for everything that has been fitted. Register those warranties yourself, Craig says, from the boiler to the heating controls, because they need your personal details. For the build itself, we come back to put right any defects for three months, at our cost. At 12 months we return for a touch up visit, once the house has been through a winter and a summer and settled, to deal with small shrinkage cracks. That can take an hour or two, or a couple of days on a larger build. After that, if there is ever an issue, call us. Every project ends this way, including a whole house renovation.

At the end of a project, we’ll do a final handover, and in that handover you’ll get all the brochures and leaflets and bits and pieces that may come with your appliances after they’ve been fitted. You need to sit down and spend the time and make sure you register all your warranties, heating controls, boiler, cylinders, et cetera. We can’t do that for you, because your personal details.
When it comes to the actual build itself, we’ll come out and do any defects for three months, our cost. And then at 12 months we’ll come back and do a shrinkage visit. That means that after the house has done a winter summer cycle, and it should have done its final settlement, we’ll come out and just do any little shrinkage cracks and bits and pieces. It might take an hour, two hours, might take a day. Maximum we normally allow is a couple of days on the larger builds.
Other than that, if there’s ever an issue, give us a call. We’ll come out and sort it out.
